   Massimo's first photography endeavors included environmental still-life and assisting fashion photographers, but soon, in the late 1990s, Gammacurta realized that his primary interest had always been conceptual and still-life photography.

   “I always wanted to be an artist. My heart is so visual — it is easier for me to show what I think than to tell. Photography allows me to do that, but also it is a very strong creative tool,” said Gammacurta.

   Prominent commercial photographer in the late 2000s, Gammacurta combined his passion for art with still-life photography. It was the time when he started making his signature candy art and taking still-life shots of it.

   His work became famous overnight. “I woke up and saw hundreds of new visitors on my website who came to check out photographs of hard-ball candies and lollipops I made. Everybody wanted to interview me and see more of my work. It all culminated in Chanel buying a couple of prints from me with their logo and numerous magazine covers I made pictures for, including the cover of The New York Times Magazine,” told Gammacurta.

   His main goal in every kind of art he creates is to make people think and engage with them by conveying messages with a picture.

   It gets a little more complex with commercial projects he takes on. However, he is firm that when it comes to this kind of work, the main priority is to deliver and elevate his client’s ideas and only then — suggest new things. “Being able to adapt but save your own voice is very important because those people chose you for a reason. They matched your wavelength, something in your vision, your work has already caught their attention and reflected their product,” said Gammacurta.

   And his list of clients proves that this photographer knows what he’s talking about.
